Repotting Cattleya Orchid With Fern Chips

Cattleya in fern chips

Cattleya orchids are one of the most sought class of orchids. Their vibrant colors and color combinations are very appealing. I have a lot of cattleya orchids, with different colors. Almost 95 percent of all my cattleyas are planted in a black cattleya orchid pot and I use fern chips for medium.

I have trusted fern chips as the best medium for my cattleyas because of the easy flow down of water from it. The water will just go through it and out instantaneously. Cattleyas need only their roots to get watered and from there, they want their roots to be aired out and for me, fern chips can give that requirement for a cattleya to be healthy and happy.

In this video, I am demonstrating how easy to repot a cattleya using fern chips. The cattleya in the video has grown out of place on the pot, so I needed to reposition it so when it blooms, it would be nice to look at.

Please watch the video and see what I am talking about.
