Dendrobium orchid is my first orchid. I have never had an experience on how to take care of any orchid. But, I know that my aunt used to have an orchid which was attached to her palm tree. That orchid, I just remember was a dendrobium anusmom. This first orchid that I have was, I bought it in front of the cathedral. On Sunday, sometimes there are sidewalk vendors in front of the cathedral selling any kind of stuff, and this lady approach me while standing waiting for someone.
Luckily, I was able to take care of it and until now I still have it. That’s the start of me collecting orchids. Now, I have a lot of orchids, that I almost have my greenhouse full. The majority of orchids I have are phalaenopsis, dendrobium, cattleyas, strap vandas, and oncidiums. I am now learning more and more about the behavior of orchids. I have attended several shows, joining groups, reading and researching through online.
In this video, I am demonstrating the easiest way to plant a small dendrobium keikis. Keiki is the little growth or baby plant which is a copy of the the orchid plant which has grown from the trunk of dendrobium. It could either grow out from the base or in the nodes. Having my dendrobium orchids created some keikis, I have come to learn how to easily plant them.
I use 3 inches diameter clay pot and coconut husk as the medium to plant the dendrobium keikis. In the video, I use a precut coconut husk because I have a hard time to cut the coconut husk while taking a video. Nevertheless, the coconut husk is easy to cut, so there is little important to know how it is done. The most important that the video wants to illustrate, is how to properly plant the small dendrobium orchid keiki.
The video has garnered more than 1K views on its 3 days from its premier and have gotten some good number of thumbs up.
