Bougainvilleas has attracted many hobbyists because of its lush flowers that come in many clusters. Their vibrant papery flowers are very attractive to passerby and would be wishing to have that kind of bougainvillea.
Here in the Philippines because of its tropical weather which is very hot in the summer, it triggers the bougainvillea to produce so many flowers, like thousands, that would mesmerize you. Bougainvilleas for sale are very popular in many garden shops along the highway. Mostly of these bougainvilleas are cheap because they are easy to propagate.
In Facebook, there are many groups pertaining to bougainvilleas and you could see them flexing their collections. These hobbyist are from newbie to veterans or long time growers. From most of the bougainvillea groups that I am a member, I see many comments asking how to propagate. There are some answers too which I tried, but I get difficulty of applying it, like the ICU method where you cover the whole plant with plastic. From analyzing the characteristics of bougainvillea, I have come to a technique of my own on how to propagate this wonderful plant. After getting a 100% successful rate of propagating, I have now documented the process in this video.
Propagating your favorite bougainvillea is little bit challenging. The method used in this video is an advanced technique that I have developed on my experience based on my observations.
The ICU method where in I have to put plastic cover on the cuttings to prevent from dehydration is not used in this process. With my method on this video, that ICU plastic cover is not necessary because I prepare the cutting first by cutting the end of the cutting and wait for several days to heal before cutting the little 3 inches twig for planting.
Also with this method, you can propagate fast your favorite bougainvilleas because it takes only a 3 inches cutting to propagate and it has 100% success rate.
